Not Your Typical Margarita

This post is sponsored by Patrón Tequila via Mode Media, but as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks you for continuing to support the brands that keep the lights on!

When I hear the word tequila – there is one brand that comes to mind: Patrón. The story on why that is goes back quite a few years, and it starts with my stint at Paul Mitchell The School: Louisville. Fun fact of the day: John Paul DeJoria was the co-founder of Paul Mitchell alongside Paul Mitchell. Since then he’s gone on to found other familiar brands like Patrón.

It’s funny how often life has came full circle since I began this blog, and today’s post is another example of that. Today I’ve teamed up with Patrón to introduce their Margarita of the Year contest by demoing one of the recipes that’s in the running for the grand prize.

Without further adieu, allow me to introduce the cocktail I chose to recreate: The Resting Garden Margarita. And let me be the first to say, it’s quite possibly the best margarita I’ve ever tasted. It’s not overly sweet like some margaritas, and the sage really helps to round out the flavor profiles.

Agave is always my sweetener of choice, whether in coffee or booze, and that’s another reason why this cocktail recipe is going to be seeing a lot of the limelight come the warmer months. Also, bonus points for the fact that the only real labor involved is fresh-squeezing lemon juice; otherwise, you combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker, shake for 30 seconds to cool completely, and pour over a mesh strainer.

It’s literally one of those delicious cocktails that as easy as 1, 2, 3. What’s not to love? Now try it out for yourself, then head to MargaritaOfTheYear.com to vote for it to win!
