Her Kentucky Shot of Bourbon T-Shirt on The Kentucky Gent

Her Kentucky Tee // Topman Shorts // Converse Sneakers // Mack Weldon Briefs + Socks

After the last couple of days and my latest post this t-shirt from Her Kentucky seems more fitting than usual. I definitely realize that I’m not the most popular guy, and to be honest the older I get the more and more I’m ok with that. In other words (like the shirt says) I’d rather be someone’s shot of bourbon than everyone’s cup of tea. Life’s way, way too short to be anyone other than your 100% authentic self. Once you realize that the right people will come into your life, and they will stay.

It was recently brought to my attention that someone made the statement, “Josh doesn’t have any friends.” Which is partially true. I have a lot of “acquaintances”, but very few true friends. That’s partially due to personal decisions, stubbornness on my part, and a whole slue of other things, but when it boils down to it at this point in my life I no longer have time/energy/room for friendships/relationships/business ventures that do nothing to grow or better me in some way, shape, or form. One of my favorite quotes sums it up best, “Do not chase people. Work hard and be you. The right people who belong in your life will come find you and stay. Do your thing.” And that’s exactly what I plan on doing.

In other news Her Kentucky asked some hard-hitting questions of me a few weeks back, and the interview is now up on their site. Go give it a read and show the ladies some love.

As I have gotten older I’ve gotten more guarded and realized that I have about four really true friends. I’m okay with it though because even though my friends live all over, they are here the moment I need them. Adulthood. Sign.

I think it’s definitely a sign of growing up when we realize what having true friends are. I have some great true friends in the city, and I’d rather have those handful of folks than more than my fair share.

I think this is one thing we have in common and something I have learned with age! I’d rather be me and have people love me for that then have a million friends that don’t even know the real me. I choose my friends wisely and for those true friends I am truely blessed and thankful. Heading over to read your interview now :).

Couldn’t agree more! It’s definitely taken me growing up to realize it, but I’m glad that I’ve came to terms with it. Life’s much easier/better this way!

I would have to agree that as you get older your pool of friends becomes smaller. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that, less drama! Love the shirt.

I have traded my weekends/time at the bar with “friends” for Netflix,Xbox One and my cats… Less drama, and major stress reliever.

Same here for friends. I have few I consider friends (only one local-ish friend/BFF in my home province-who I’ve known since I was in junior high- and a bunch worldwide) but those I do consider friends are there for me and are people I trust. Take care.
