Haters Gonna Hate

Not exactly sure where to begin, but I guess I’ll start by saying these may/may not be my new favorite jeans and these boots are the most comfortable boots I’ve ever worn. It’s no secret that one of my favorite things about the upcoming season has something to do with being able to wear boots again, which means these new boots from Cat couldn’t have come at a better time. Not only are they a great looking pair of boots they also happen to be light as a feather and seriously comfy. It’s a win, win.

I’ve not worn a pair of “girl” jeans since my high school days, but when I was out shopping with my housemates last week this pair of boyfriend jeans were calling my name. I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of jeans that were loose in the thigh that still fit everywhere else, but they don’t seem to make that option in my size in the boy’s department. Blame it on the chubby thighs.

And speaking of chubby thighs. I stumbled down a wormhole yesterday that I’d prefer I not went down, but there’s no looking back now. Setting up Google Alerts for the blog was a great idea until I got an alert from GOMI (Get Off My Internets). Naive me originally believed the comments on the site weren’t snarky, but I was quickly proved wrong. If you’re unsure of what GOMI is, allow me to break it down for you. It’s essentially a site for faceless people to gather and badmouth their least favorite bloggers, whether that happen to be because of how they dress, how chubby their thighs are, because their poses are just “that sexy”, or anywhere in between. If you’re wondering, yes all the above things were said about several of my posts, complete with photographic proof of course. At first I let it get under my skin more than I should have, until I realized the issues these people have happen to be with themselves and has nothing to do with me or how chubby (or not chubby) my thighs are. Especially seeing as how 75% of the comments in my thread are from the same person, which makes me wonder if they’re from Louisville/if I know them personally. But like T Swift once said, “Haters gonna hate hate hate.” Time to shake em off.

I will come out and say however that I am at the heaviest I have been in a while, and that’s become glaringly obvious over the last few weeks. Thankfully my sprained ankle seems to finally be healed, and I’m getting back into the swing of running and doing yoga. Do me a favor and hold me accountable? I’ll do the same for any/all of you if the situation ever presents itself.

  1. aren’t people just the worst, sometimes? If you would never say something mean, rude, or hurtful to someone’s face why on earth is it ok to say it about the on the internet? Loving loose, distressed jeans!

    1. The worst. I feel the exact same way, but sadly not everyone is on the same page. Literally can’t believe there’s a whole site dedicated to bashing other people, simply because we’re doing something they’re too chicken to do. I.e. Put their real selves out there for the world to digest.

  2. I feel like if people are taking the time to make fun of you on GOMI, you’ve made it. Seriously. Online trolls make fun of people who are BAMFs and way more successful than they’ll ever be to make themselves feel better about their sad lives. Keep doing what you’re doing cause you’re a star and you’re shining SO BRIGHT.

Also, I’m obsessed with these jeans and anyone hating on your thighs is blind. You look great!

    1. That’s the vantage point I’m choosing to see this from, better not bitter, right? And thank you! Guess I’ll have to take a cue from T Swift and shake em off.

And I’m right there with you on the jeans! They’re perfect. As far as my legs go.. I run marathons, so I’m not sure if they’re confusing chubby with in shape? I’m definitely not as thin as some of the other guy bloggers, but my legs are one area that’s not chubby on me, haha.

  3. GOMI is such a sorry place. I’ve fallen down the hole several times but you’re so right. It’s just a bunch of cowards who are hating on confident, successful people. Some of the things they say and decide to hate on is seriously laughable! So yes, definitely laugh it off and move along! They can do them, and you do you, we all know who wins in that one! πŸ˜‰

And, ummm, I need to be in on that accountable thing. I have GOT to start running again.

    1. SUCH a sorry place. When I first shared that on my Facebook I had NO idea what it actually was, and then I headed back later that day to see what else was said and was greeted with tons of hate. The thing that I DO NOT get is that most of these people read our blogs, but then head there to badmouth us. If you don’t like what we’re doing, don’t click through!

Accountability makes it SO much easier. I wouldn’t of gotten my ass out of bed for a 6 am yoga session the other day had it not been for my housemates being like GET UP.

  4. I guess I don’t see what there is to badmouth. Here you are working your ass off, being vulnerable in front of the world and looking damn good while doing it. Honestly, things like this make me think twice about putting myself out there.

    1. I think that’s where that fine line is drawn that not everyone sees, and by that I mean people seeing bloggers living this “fun life” but in reality, we’re working our asses off to make it look fun, even when it’s not. But.. never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game! That’s something I always tell myself in situations like this.

  5. Ugh, whatever Josh, I also have some damn thick thighs and try to get em thinner everyday. It’s basically genetics, but we don’t want two sticks, do we? πŸ˜€ I mean, look at all the Versace Menswear Runways…It’s true those guys’ thighs are super worked out, but eventually they still turn up in Milan with thick thighs. And if the Versace Boys cannot be considered beauty standard, than I don’t know who can! But try not to give a s**t, you’re running a successful menswear blog, attending FWs, you don’t have time for all the losers in this Universe lacking daily activities .
