If you’ve followed along with me at all on social media this weekend you’ve bound to have seen a post or two about Whatever USA as I was lucky enough to get spend a long weekend in Catalina Island with 1,000 people that were quite literally up for whatever.
Let me start by saying that if you’ve never been a fan of California (which I’ll never understand) then you need to visit Catalina Island. Quite possibly one of the most gorgeous places I’ve visited in The States, AND it seriously doesn’t feel like you’re in The States anymore. More like a quaint fishing village in the Caribbean or even the Mediterranean if you close your eyes and pretend hard enough.
Secondly, if you’re ever looking for a good way to spend a weekend this summer the answer is as simple as this: sand, sun, good friends, and cold beer. I headed out to California for the weekend solo, and came back with plenty of good memories and even several new friends – who happen to only be a couple hours away from Louisville, funny how things work out sometimes, isn’t it?
Last but not least, here’s your tip for the week: do whatever feels right and be up for whatever and you’ll be surprised where life will take you.
Because if I hadn’t been up for whatever I would’ve missed performances by Snoop Dog, Lil Jon, and Girl Talk. I wouldn’t have gotten to stay at a gorgeous hotel like The Pavilion Hotel, or dance the night away at a private beach to the beats of Diplo.
