Thursday Things: Let Go

the fresh exchange blog, let it go, creative morning talk, thursday things, self helpI’ve shared my love for The Fresh Exchange in past posts, and it feels like with each and every week that become more and more a source of inspiration for me. When I heard they were giving a Creative Mornings talk last week I was more than a bit miffed that I wouldn’t be able to attend their talk – seeing as how we’re a few hundred miles apart. Luckily for me, they totally made my day when they uploaded a video + shared the major highlights of their talk in the form of a blog post

While I certainly have loved all of the Creative Morning’s talks I’ve heard here in Louisville their talk definitely hit home for me. I’ll be the first to admit one of my biggest weaknesses is allowing myself to let go – whether that be personally or professionally, and it’s great to know that I’m not alone in that. If you find yourself in the same boat as myself, Mike, and Megan I’d definitely recommend seeing what they have to say about the matter for yourselves. I can even almost guarantee you won’t regret it, because with quotes like “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” you’re sure to leave feeling inspired.

Besides doing my best to let go more often, I’m also going to do my best to practice Sun Salutations more oft thanks to Wandeleur. It’s one of the best ways to set your focus for the day/week ahead – plus it’s a god send for me since my muscles aren’t as loose as they used to be.

Gimme Some Oven served up some different inspiration this week as she went 60 days without sugar and lived to dish about it. I do love a challenge, but I don’t know about this one. I do live less than a block from my favorite ice cream shop in town after all. What are y’all’s thoughts?

Orlando also inspired me this week. Inspired me to throw myself down the nearest flight of stairs (I kid, I kid). But really, he inspired me to stay optimist about my dating life. He’s renovating his boyfriend’s place before they move in together, talk about #CoupleGoals. Head on over to his gal pal’s, Emily Henderson, blog to see the big reveal! I won’t judge you if you break out the ice cream earlier, cause I did it too.

Speaking of boyfriends and couple goals: the genius behind Probably Baking, Beau, whipped up a delicious looking Matcha Gay Wedding Cake, and I have a feeling it’s going to be all the rage at gay weddings this summer. Since SCOTUS is expected to rule on marriage equality by the end of June and all.

Now this is on a totally unrelated note, BUT I stumbled across this article from Complex this week and HAD to share it with everyone. It’s entitled “How to Clean Your Penis“. I never knew there was a proper way to do so, but I guess I’ve been missing out all these years – sorry dude.

Maybe that’s why I’ve had 1 date this year, while this guy has had a couple hundred.

Guess it’s time to hop across the pond to stock up on some of the 220 exclusive LUSH products at the Oxford Street store, that should keep me clean everywhere – right?

If you’re in the market for a new Spring jacket (or five) He Spoke Style rounded up the best jackets for the season, and he included his Burberry trench coat. You’ll have to ask him the story about that one.

He also made an excellent point about opting for Linen-Cotton suits for Spring, and from the looks of it – he knows what he’s talking about.

Between Thurby, Oaks, Derby, and Mother’s Day this weekend is sure to be one helluva whirlwind, and while I can’t help out with it all I can say that:

  1. I’m taking over Kentucky Tourism’s Instagram for the weekend, follow along to see where I’ll be Derby weekend + what you should get into.
  2. The folks at west elm & Wandeleur just made your Mother’s day all that much easier – you’re welcome.

Last but not least, keep up with all things Derby by following me on Instagram and SnapChat at “TheKentuckyGent”.
