Yesterday I tried something new for the first time: boulder climbing at Climb NuLu. I’ve driven past the place a million and one times (quite literally) since it opened a few months back, BUT I’ve never quite worked up the nerve to admit my lack of upper-body strength and give it a go. Until my friend Megan, whom I’ve been running with as of late, asked if I’d be willing to give it a go, and I gladly said yes! It was the perfect excuse to try out something that I’d had my eye on for a while, and I was excited to finally give it a go. All was well, until about an hour in I lost my grip when I was practically at the top of a climb and fell several feet, rolling my ankle in the process. Which is why today’s post it appropriately titled Roll With It.
But seriously, I’m proud of myself and Megan for making it an hour climbing up and down walls, and not giving up until my body kind of forced me to throw in the towel. If you’re in the Louisville area I’d definitely recommend checking them out, $15 for Newbies on their first visit, $12 after that, and free rentals on Tuesday + Thursday for you ladies. Fingers crossed the swelling on my ankle goes down before too long, and I’m able to get back in there and conquer the course that left me crippled. And if that isn’t a metaphor for how I feel about life in general, then I really don’t know what is.
