Back. Back again. In more ways than one. After a whirlwind 24 hour (that turned into almost 48 hour) trip to Memphis, Tennessee I came down with a serious summer cold and barely left my bed once yesterday – save trips downstairs to fetch more water and/or food.
I’m sure there are a few reasons why I wound up with a cold. Namely spending 12+ cumulative hours in a car coupled with the fact that the weather in Memphis is 10x more humid than the weather back home. Also may have a thing or two to do with me not taking the best care of myself when on road trips on this nature.
Lots of sun, one too many iced coffees, and 95 degree days can definitely take it out of ya. I came back with a serious sunburn, a full belly, and a handful of new friends though so I can’t really complain.
Visiting Memphis had been on my to-do list for a while, but like most things I had never gotten around to crossing it off the list. If you’re in the same boat then you’re in luck cause there’s a 24 hour guide to experiencing Memphis coming your way shortly. So stay tuned!
In the meantime I’m keeping today’s post short and sweet cause after calling out sick for work the last few days I’ve got more than my fair share of emails to attend to before I had back to Tennessee for a quick trip to Nashville on Saturday for a Tinder date. He’s tall, dark, handsome, and has a real job – well worth the 2 hour drive. For all the above reasons (obviously), but also because it’s going to give me a chance to listen to a few more chapters of the Game of Thrones audio book that I downloaded before this week’s earlier trip.
Fun fact: I knocked audio books for THE longest time, but they’re seriously a lifesaver when you’re on a long road trip and you’re flying solo. I’d maybe recommend not diving into something as hard to follow as GoT, but otherwise.. it’s a great way to make the time pass a helluva lot quicker.
