One morning during my usual coffee + blog roll reading one article stood out to me above all the rest. Mostly because I was going through the process of relocating from one bedroom to another in my apartment which MAJORLY downsizing my closet + actually building a closet since I moved into a loft space with zero storage – there’s a Pinterest worthy post coming your way on that before too long. You seriously never realize how many clothes you really have until you’ve got to move them from point A to point B, and Triple Thread’s (another lovely gal I found thanks to Southern Blog Society) post about her capsule wardrobe really got me thinking.

Thinking about the fact that despite the LARGE amount of clothing I have I only really wear a handful of pieces. This time of year that includes my one to two pairs of jeans, a handful of plaid shirts, a couple of come sweatshirts/sweaters, and some t-shirts to layer with; everything else is essentially taking up valuable real estate in my closet. A fact that didn’t really hit me until I was moving clothes from one closet to the other and found clothing that I had A) forgotten I had or B) still had the tags on it. While I still have several pieces of clothing to go through and commence the actual purge I can say without a doubt that there will be a capsule wardrobe post coming your way shortly. Consider it my take on what every guy should have in his closet. What’s one piece you couldn’t live without in a capsule wardrobe?

  • I couldn’t live without my plain black, crew-neck tees!

  • Slim-fit/distressed jeans from GAP.
    Black varsity-style jacket from ASOS.

    • Great picks! While I don’t own a varsity style jacket, they’re definitely a winner in my book.

Great look! Basics are always best and I love the sneakers and the cool socks showing.

    • Couldn’t agree more, basics definitely can be the best parts of any look!

I am the same way with clothes. I have three closets and for some reason I get stuck on certain pieces, wear the sh*t out of them, and then they go to back of my wardrobe. LOL.

    Great look!

    • Jealous of those three closets, but anyways haha, great minds think alike 😉

I’ve seen blog posts about capsule collections for gals.. but never one for guys. What would you recommend for a capsule collection for guys?

    • Girls get all the good stuff, no? I’d say a guy’s “capsule wardrobe” is up to what his duties entail. My capsule wardrobe is basic t-shirts, dark wash jeans, plaid shirts, denim/leather jackets, sneakers, and a good pair of boots.

Maybe you should do a post about the definitive capsule collection – based on duties ie casual/work from home, office, other lifestyles..

        • I’ll definitely keep that idea in mind, thanks for the feedback!
