This week’s Tuesday Tip is a little different than usual, for a few reasons. Most of all because it’s coming at you from Mexico (I’m sitting on my balcony over looking the rainforest and drinking my coffee), it’s coming at you later than usual (sorry, the sun down here really takes it out of you, and I was passed out by 9 pm), and it’s more of me saying endorsing wanderlust instead of a tip.
In other words if you have the chance to travel, do it – even if you can’t afford it at the moment. Where there’s a will, there’s a way, right? Not going to lie travel has always scared me a bit because of the monetary value that’s attached to it, but at the end of the day something we’ve all got to ask ourselves is if the experience is worth the price tag attached to it. In my case, it is.
I’ve only been in Mexico for one full day so far, and I already know that this trip was 100% worth the price tag. If for no other reason than getting out of my comfort zone which forced me to think outside the box and look at things in a whole new light, and when you’re a self-employed, creative type that’s worth just about anything. Maybe you can’t or don’t want to get away for a full week, maybe you’re not wanting to travel outside the country, and that’s all ok – there’s plenty of places for a weekend getaway within a few hours of all of us. All I would recommend is going somewhere you’ve not been before. We’re all guilty of sticking with what’s comfortable, what we’re used to, and by doing that we do the same things over and over again. Part of the fun in traveling somewhere new is figuring out what to do, where to eat, and a long list of other things.
Whether it be the Aquarian in me or something else entirely I’ve always enjoyed trips that included beaches more than any other trips, and the beaches here in Riviera Maya are NO exception. Crystal clear water with white, white sand beaches. What’s not to love? It’s been a balmy 80 degrees here every day with a constant breeze from the ocean, and this is about as close to heaven as possible. If you’re considering giving into your wanderlust sometime in the near future – I’d recommend Mexico. It’s a short jaunt from the mainland, and it’s actually a cheaper trip (from Kentucky) than Florida, and the folks down here are beyond hospitable. It’s a win, win in my book.
Looking for more wanderlust inducing ideas or tips on how to travel and do it right? Then check out my buddy’s blog, Leave Your Daily Hell. Besides being a great writer and all around swell guy – he is one of the biggest driving forces behind me wanting to travel more and more. And that’s all for today y’all, keeping it short and sweet so I can start to soak up some rays. Be sure to follow along on Instagram and SnapChat at “TheKentuckyGent”. I’m planning out a trip to Tulum tomorrow, and I’m SO excited to do some exploring.
