How I Really Work From Home

QuickBooks is sponsoring today’s post, but as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. This is a product that I use on a daily basis and have for the last three years.  It’s officially summer, y’all! Hope everyone had an incredible Memorial Day weekend full of rest, relaxation, and of course, a little bit of fun. The pool at my place officially opened this weekend, which means I spent the majority of time poolside. It is that time of year after all. Can’t believe that in a short few days it’ll already be June. This year has really flown by, and it seems like just yesterday that I was sharing my plans for the year with y’all. Complete with a home office set-up that’s already changed at least once since then. What can I say, I’m a bit indecisive when it comes to my work environment. Truth be told, my usual work environment looks like what you see today; me on the couch with coffee and phone in hand and Macbook on the coffee table. See, being self-employed isn’t nearly as glamorous or “Instagram-worthy” as most of us make it out to be. There are definitely days (many days) that…

Receipt Tracking

QuickBooks is sponsoring this blog post, but as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.  If the above scene looks familiar to any of you then you’ve more than likely elbow deep in tax prep just like me. Tons of fun, right? At least I’m not tackling it alone this year! Like I said in my post with Intuit earlier this year delegating is a top priority for me this year; especially with tasks that I don’t love to do. Why? Because I’d rather spend my time and energy on things that I excel at and ask for help when I don’t excel at something. Using QuickBooks Self-Employed the last few years has always helped me work smarter not harder during tax season. Like helping me find tax deductions, keeping my finances organized by capturing receipts, and categorizing my business expenses. Don’t believe me? QuickBooks Self-Employed users find an average of $4,340 in potential tax savings per year and more than $18,000 in deductions. Which is why I’m excited to partner with them on today’s sponsored post. So let’s walk through how I’m getting ready for taxes this year. Shall we? Keeping organized has never been my jam, but QuickBooks…

2018 Plans

QuickBooks is sponsoring this post, but as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.  Saying that 2017 was a struggle would be the biggest understatement to ever leave my lips, but what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. Right? After the way 2018 is already shaping up I’d have to say, more than ever, that I’m now a firm believer in that phrase. I lost sight of a lot of things over the course of 2017 and in doing so let myself get off track. Not just in work, but in my personal life as well. I was trying to do it all and failing miserably at it all. Sound familiar? I’m sure it does. I think it’s a trip that most self-employed folks fall into at one point or another as they feel their way through life. But if there’s one thing I learned last year it’s that I can’t do it all, and that it’s more than ok to ask for help. Which is why I’m excited to be partnering with QuickBooks Self-Employed and Turbo Tax Self-Employed for a three part sponsored series on the struggles self-employed folks can face along the way. First up? My plans for 2018….

Gear Upgrade

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by KEH and contains affiliate links, but as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. Well, my first ever DSLR served me VERY well for several years. In fact, it would’ve kept serving me for many to come, but there comes a time in everyone’s career when it’s time for an upgrade. Which is why I’m very excited to team up with KEH Camera today to walk through their trade-in process. They make the process of trading in and upgrading your photography gear SO simple and easy. The whole process takes no more than 5 minutes to complete, and by the end of it you have a shipping label to send your old gear in with. They literally couldn’t make the process any more simple. Ready to take your photos to the next level? Then let’s jump in! Head to Navigate to the “Sell Gear” tab. Enter the name or Model # of your old gear. Click “Sell to KEH”. Enter in your info. Print off your packing and shipping labels. Then the sell process is complete! Once all of that’s done you can either schedule a Fedex pickup or drop it off at…

Rocketbook Wave

Happy Monday, y’all! I’m almost completely moved into the new place, minus a few boxes in the bedroom. HOORAH. I hate moving. It is the worst. I will never, ever move without movers again. And now I’m mostly ready to tackle the week ahead. Making up for lost time as I go. Why? Because on top of having my camera stolen a few weeks back, my computer bit the dust a few days ago. Meaning that I had to take a few days off work while she was in the shop for repairs. At least it gave me a chance to finish unpacking? Even though it means I’m even more behind than I was before. AND to top it off, I’m more than likely going to NYC in less than a week. No rest for the wicked, right? In other words, my hands are gonna be full the next couple of days.  My only saving grace? The Rocketbook Wave that I picked up from Touch of Modern last week. It’s seriously the best of both worlds. Old school note taking/to-do list meets tech integration. Which is perfect for me. Because as much as I love writing out my to-do lists…
