Tips on Staying Hydrated

Hot weather is here to stay y’all! And I’m not mad about it. Especially since the new pad has a pool, and I’m quickly becoming a regular after lunch time. Since no one (literally not a single soul) is ever there before 5 o’clock during the week. Perks of working from home are real – seriously. Other perks of working from home include always remembering to drink plenty of water. But when I’m traveling or out running errands? I’l be the first to admit that I’m not the best at remembering to drink water. Looking at you coffee!  I’ve not drank soda (minus in mixed drinks) in years. Actually, since I was about 13-14. A friend of mine helped get me out of the bad habit, and I’ve not looked back since. So drinking water isn’t the issue. It’s remembering to do it once my schedule gets hectic, and I’m away from home. Now let me tell you, I can 100% tell whenever I’ve not been drinking enough water. How? Because my energy levels drop, I have a hard time concentrating, and I’m constantly getting off task. Used to think that meant I needed more coffee, but boy was I…

A Mother’s Love

Disclosure: This sponsored post is on behalf of Jared The Galleria Of Jewelry as part of their #JaredTimelessMoments campaign, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.  My mom has always been my number one supporter, and I’ve always been the biggest momma’s boy. Even during those years that we didn’t exactly see eye to eye. We come from very different generations, and I’m definitely more of a spitfire than she bargained for. But over the years I’ve luckily mellowed out and settled into a life all my own. A life that I’m glad to say my parents and family are proud of.  I still remember calling my mom 3 years ago and saying something along the lines of “I’m starting a blog.” She, of course, had no idea what I was talking about replied “How can I help?”  Shortly thereafter I bought my first “real” camera and a new computer to get the business up and running, with her help. So when I say that if it wasn’t for my mom I wouldn’t be doing this today it couldn’t be more true.  When I couldn’t afford to pay my bills the first couple of months? She was there to help me every…

Blogger Burnout

Blogging comes with its fair share of downsides, just like any other job, and possibly more so since being your own boss definitely isn’t for everyone. After all that I went through with my sister’s passing and the residual issues that come with a death involving an immediate family member I’ve been left feeling overwhelmed by the woes of self-employed life more than usual.

What I Learned From My Mom

Today, I celebrate you. I celebrate you because without you I wouldn’t be here. You love me when I’m at my best, and even more so when I’m at my worst. You always know when something is wrong, without me having to say a word. You’re the first person I call with good news, and the last person I break the bad news to. We may not always see eye to eye, but we’ll never stop loving each other.  You taught me to be kind.  You taught me how to cry.  You taught me to be brave.  You taught me how to sing.  You taught me how to cook.  You taught me to love learning.  You taught me that I’m good enough.  You taught me to have a big imagination.  You taught me how to be a good partner.  You taught me that it’s okay to not be okay.  You taught me that I can do whatever I put my mind to. But most of all and most importantly, you taught me how to be me.  The list of what I learned from my mom could go on and on, but it would never be enough. Because without her this blog wouldn’t be a reality. Without her I wouldn’t have been given the freedom to…
