Marathon Training

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and DripDrop®, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #DrinkDripDrop #DripDropHydrates http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

If you’re following along with me on Twitter by now you’re probably tired of my constant tweets about marathon training, but it’s just beginning – sorry, not sorry! This will be my first full marathon (keep your fingers, toes, and all other opposable appendages crossed for me.) While I’m not new to the training schedule that comes with gearing up for a long distance run – I’ve ran a handful of half marathons & The Triple Crown – my body isn’t my biggest fan right now.

One of the worst things about working for yourself AND working from home is the schedule, or lack there of. There are some mornings that I’ll roll out of bed, grab a coffee, and get straight into work. Then before I realize it it’s past noon, and I’ve not eaten breakfast. When you’re training for a marathon that’s the number one mistake to make, not fueling up. Well, I’m happy to say that after meeting with a nutritionist last week I’ve made myself an eating schedule to follow (every two hours), and so far so good. My long run on Saturday was SO much easier thanks to me increasing my daily caloric intake to 3,000 – it’s true, I run so that I can eat more.

Another thing that made that 9 mile run that much easier was adding DripDrop hydration powder to my water. I drink liters of water a day, but while water does a great job of rehydrating me before, during, and after runs it definitely takes a minute to replace all of what I lose during those runs. That’s where DripDrop comes into play.

DripDrop activates the sodium-glucose co-transport system, one of the fastest hydration mechanisms in the body. It literally pulls water from your gut and hydrates you faster, which is crucial when training for/out on long runs. Staying hydrated throughout my runs could be the difference between me beating my PR, or finishing with a subpar taste in my mouth. To try DripDrop out for yourself stop by your local CVS, hit up the baby aisle, and pick some up for yourself. If you hurry, you can get $1 off your purchase (while supplies last) with this online coupon (valid 1/25-2/21/15) as well.
