I used to be a chubby kid, and if there are formally chubby readers out there you understand that you never really mentally get over that stage in your life. Whether it be the extra fold of skin here, the stretch marks there, or those five pounds that just never seem to leave your waist line it’s a constant struggle in your head and can sometimes making get dressed in the morning harder than need be, especially this time of year.

You may have noticed that I don’t wear much in terms of outerwear, and truth be told I never wear puffer jackets or anything along those lines as I don’t want to give the illusion that I’m any bigger than I am – silly, I know, but it makes sense in my head. While a thicker jacket would keep me much warmer in the colder months I just remind myself that beauty is pain – right? The more fashion forward jackets out there e.g., bombers, leather jackets, or moto jackets, which I do wear don’t offer much protection from the elements by themselves, but that’s pretty easy to remedy. Layer your favorite/warmest pull over or zip-up hoodie under your jacket to up the warmth factor while adding a much-needed layer to your outfit. If that’s not cutting it grab a coffee from your favorite spot and hope for the best, or you can shop some of my favorite hoodie + jacket combos from Nordstrom below.
