Pool Break

Posted: July 19, 2017 by The Kentucky Gent

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Dr Pepper®. The opinions and text are all mine. #PickYourPepper #Walmart Y’all! I’m happy to announce that I’m officially moved into the new place AND unpacked. Well, except for three boxes in my bedroom. Still waiting on a new dresser to arrive, and that shipment is taking a minute. Everything else though? In its proper home. For right now. This is my first solo apartment so I know I’ll continue to move and adjust things as I settle in and add to my ever-growing collection. Currently in the market for a TON of new art to hang on the walls, so help a brother out! Where should I start the search? Keep in mind, I have roughly 13 foot walls. Meaning I have a lot of ground to cover. Especially as all the art from my old place barely even covers a third of the main wall in my living room. A few friends recommended looking into turning things like shower curtains or draperies into large wall art, and I’ve got to say – I’m a fan. Mostly because I have so much wall space to cover that I…

Perfect Poolside Companion

Posted: June 28, 2017 by The Kentucky Gent

Disclosure: This post is brought to you by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #CincoDeCayman #CollectiveBias Y’all! I’m mostly officially moved into the new place. Praise God. While I’m not 100% head over heels for it, yet, I do love it so far. More on why I don’t love it coming soon to a blog near you, but there are plenty of reasons to love it already. Like, a pool right out my front door. Can anyone say mid-workday pool breaks? Cause I sure can!  And speaking of those breaks, a Cayman Jack Margarita makes for the perfect poolside companion. With all the travel and life changes that have been happening around here lately burnout is real. Which is why I’m making myself take breaks now, every day. Because it’s really, really easy to work round the clock when you’re a one man show. Especially when you’ve got a lot to catch up on. But taking care of yourself should always be your number one priority.  So for the foreseeable future every day after lunch I’ll be backing up a book and a Cayman Jack Margarita to head down to the pool. Why? Because Vitamin D…

Morning Routines

Posted: May 30, 2017 by The Kentucky Gent

I’m sharing #MyDolceGusto in my life as part of a NESCAFÉ® sponsored series for Socialstars™, but as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.  Working from home is a dream come true, really. I get to make my own schedule. Go to bed whenever I like (for the most part) and even sleep in pretty much every day. But as time has went on I’ve finally succumbed to the fact that I’m desperately needing a bit more structure in my work schedule.  Crazy, right? I know, I know. That’s the exact reason most people want to be their own boss. But it’s also the hardest part about being your own boss. Trust me.  Luckily, since I am my own boss that structure is still pretty dang flexible. As in my mornings start off the same each and every day, but I kind of fly by the seat of my pants for the rest of the day. Following the same morning routines have seriously helped up my productivity levels though. Because I actually know what to tackle each and every morning vs. waking up and getting distracted before my coffee is even made. Can y’all relate? Good. Glad I’m not alone.  MY MORNING…

Denim Care Tips

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #PurexCrystalFresh #CollectiveBias It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of denim. In literally every form. From denim jackets to chambray shirts and everything in between. And over the years I’ve found a way or two to keep them looking their best, even after several washes. Because after all, they are an internal part of my wardrobe, and more often than not I wear them day in and day out. Meaning that I wear them for long stints at a time without washing. Why? Because I’m a firm believer in denim being 100x better when it’s lived in.  My secret to keeping them smelling their best, even after a week or two of wear? Purex® Crystals. You’re probably asking yourself how that is, and if that’s the case, then today’s your lucky day. Because I’m here to break it down for y’all. They provide up to 12 weeks of freshness with each wash. Meaning they’re perfect for every facet of your laundry routine. Because who doesn’t want clean, white sheets that smell like Fresh Spring Waters, even in between washes?!

Monday Morning

I’m sharing #NESCAFE  in my life as part of a NESCAFE sponsored series for Socialstars™. I’m not a morning person. There I said it. I loathe getting up early. I’m guilty of hitting snooze one too many times. And I have the hardest time making myself get into bed at a decent hour. I much prefer staying up late, sleeping in, and then pressing repeat the next day. But over the last couple of years of being my own boss I’ve worked my hardest to wake up earlier than my norm. Not quite the 6 or 7 a.m. wakeup times that I wish I could manage but more like 9 or 10 a.m.  The biggest help for me in that area? Quick and easy morning routines. First and foremost, food and coffee upon waking up. And my new NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® has made my mornings 100x easier because I know a hot, delicious cup of coffee is just the press of a button away. Gone are the mornings of groggily filling up a coffee pot and making too much coffee. Because now I’m able to make just the right size, from a short cup to a full 12 ounce pour. My first cup of the day is…
