Anchal Holiday Trunk Show

The Kentucky Gent at The Anchal Project's Holiday Trunk Show

This weekend I was lucky enough to attend the Anchal Holiday Trunk Show in our beautiful city of Louisville. Inclement weather stopped me from going on Friday, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me on Saturday! You’ll recognize this incredible project from a post a few months back about their fashion show with Urban Renewal/Urban Outfitters. This event was able about showcasing their beautifully handcrafted items perfect for all your gift giving needs. Imagine gifting one of the ornaments pictured above, and in return helping change one person’s life forever.

Anchal (ahn-cal)
noun
1. the edge of a sari used to provide comfort and protection for loved ones
2. shelter

In case you forgot what Anchal stood for, I left the definition above. This incredible cause is saving women daily from the sex trafficking industry in India by taking them under their wings and educating them in various tasks including how to make all the items pictured above. As you gift this Holiday, please consider making a life changing purchase with Anchal, here.

I’m going to leave you all with a quote from them that truly hit home with me this weekend. “This holiday season, donate to Anchal and give the ultimate gift – hope and opportunity to exploited women in India.” In this busy season we often forget what this Holiday is actually about, please take a minute and visit their website and follow them on Instagram & Twitter to keep up to date with all future events around town. I promise you’ll leave with a renewed sense of how lucky you really are.

Humbly Yours,

The Kentucky Gent

Had to fortune to see some of these absolutely beautiful quilts and our very own “Quilters Day Out” 2014 here in Louisville, Ky. They are so soft and colorful doesn’t fully describe the beauty of this work. I am already adding to my cash jar in hopes of purchasing one of these at the next quilters festival I see these ladies at. Please anyone if you have the opportunity to view any of these quilts and all the objects please to so, you won’t be disappointed. A Mt. Washington, Ky quilter…Diane K.

    • So true! Their work is incredible. Thanks taking the time to read my article on them.
